Empire High, Book 4

Review of Matchmaker, Empire High Book 4

I promise this review will not have any spoilers. After reading, Empire High Betrayal, I knew Ivy Smoak was a unique writer. Her individualism and quirky personality shine in her writing, and she took her latest release Empire High, Matchmaker, to a whole new level. Again, after reading Betrayal, I was blown away. Never, ever, had I read an ending like that in a modern-day romance novel. I loved it, and I hated it — not because of poor writing — but because Smoak’s characters get under your skin and grab hold, which is why I was dying to read Matchmaker. I needed Matt to have an HEA.

Besides Smoak, there is only one other writer, Kate Perry, whose writing moved me so much that I reached out as a fan. Well, I begged and pleaded to become a member of Smoak’s early release launch team, and it was with great pleasure that they sent me an advance release copy (ARC) of Matchmaker for an honest review.

Please note: To enjoy Matchmaker, you must read Empire High books 1-3 now available to KU members

Matchmaker was so different, Matt’s emotions were honest, raw and I cried and cried for him. Matchmaker is not your typical HEA cookie-cutter romance story. 6 amazing stars – I will be re-reading this series over and over again. A sad, hilarious, offbeat, unique, weird modern romance tale. Tanner and Nigel were wet my pants laugh-out load fun. And, in true Smoak style, she left me wanting more! A wonderful must-read!

Ivy Smoak is the international bestselling author of The Hunted Series. Her books have sold over 1 million copies worldwide, and her latest release, Empire High Betrayal, hit #4 in the entire Kindle store.
When she’s not writing, you can find Ivy binge watching too many TV shows, taking long walks, playing outside, and generally refusing to act like an adult. She lives with her husband in Delaware.
It’s been a wild ride to chase her dreams…
“I believe anything is possible if you’re tenacious and not willing to let go of your dreams.  I still pinch myself knowing how far I’ve come after all the nos I received early on.  I found a love for reading in elementary school.  I was in the lowest reading class and I was determined to work my way up to the highest.  So one summer, I read and read and read some more.  And I never stopped.  I fell in love with stories.  But even though I did work my way up into the highest reading class, I never would have dreamed to be on the other side of the stories I loved so much.
