“It was nothing like what I’d dreamed of when I was a little girl—what I had hoped for myself growing up. But it was the only life I had, and it was mine. The days of waiting around for someone else to ride in and save the day for me were over. People couldn’t be trusted. They lied. They cheated. And then, when everything you were and hoped to be shattered apart into a million pieces, they left.”
― Bianca Scardoni, Invidious
This book is part of a series and ends in a cliffhanger. However, all but the last book have been published. Last book is due December 2020**

SPOILER ALERT: Book 1 ends on a cliffhanger when Trace tricks Jemma into giving him the Amulet. Jemma now knows she not human but a descendant of angels and a Slayer. In book 2, she must find a way to recover the Amulet and her best friend from the clutches of a ancient vampire, Engel, and she only has a two weeks to do so. In the meantime, she must continue to train with Gabriel, unravel her feelings regarding Trace, and concoct a plan to defeat Engel and retrieve Taylor. Dominic has offered to help, especially when she needs to find out what affect her blood has on Revenants and Dominic is more than willing to help with tasting her blood. Her blood seems to be the key to her future.
I devoured this book just a quickly as the first one and can’t wait until it all comes together and she gets her happily ever after, which is something she mentions quite a bit since her life has taken such a drastic turn into the paranormal.
Goodreads.com Book Description
The steep descent into Hell is always paved with good intentions.
My name is Jemma Blackburn, and I’m a Slayer. Finding out I wasn’t human was only the beginning of my problems. My best-friend, Taylor, is still missing, and so is the Immortal Amulet, and it’s my job alone to get them both back. I don’t know who I can trust, and I’m still not sure I’m cut out for any of this, but I’m determined to figure it all out, or die trying.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, there’s a new enemy in town and they’ve come bearing gifts—an ancient prophesy that is going to blur the very lines between good and evil. And, apparently, my blood is tied to the center of it. I don’t have all the answers yet, but I’m getting closer and closer to discovering the truth. The truth about my bloodlines, and about who I really am.
And, believe me when I say, it’s going to change everything.
