The second book in the Lockhart Brothers series is about Mason Lockhart, the cocky player who has a secret life. and April, the new girl in town who overhears him calling her ‘mousy’ the first time they meet. An enemies to lovers tale.
Book 2 had some big shoes to fill and I have to admit, I’m a little disappointed in this one. I loved the first one in this series, and that not all books in a series will carry the same momentum but this one just didn’t work well for me.
I didn’t find the attraction between Mason and April all that believable and some of their relationship development was missing. In the beginning, April overhears Mason call her “mousy” and not anything he is usually attracted to so I just could never figure out what flipped the switch but I guess it was her intellect. April was self-conscious and bothered by his past. She knew she wasn’t his type and was always waiting for the other shoe to drop. Then, when she professes her feelings, he basically calls her a whore and is mean to her but when she ignores him, he’s all of sudden ready to commit.
I really hope Kyle’s book is better. He deserves a HEA and so do his boys.
