The Selection (The Selection, #1) by Kiera Cass

The Selection by Kiera Cass
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Synopsis: Goodreads
I’m a bit conflicted about this story by Kiera Cass what I mean is I’m all for mashups but, Is it okay for a book to remind you of so many other books and tv shows?

However, I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting and I’m looking forward to finishing the series.

Favorite Quote:

“It’s hard to get a hug wrong.”

What I liked:
I couldn’t put it down! I loved her writing and the characters. It’s a great YA so I can understand why the author kept with a familiar genre.

What I didn’t like:
I had trouble in the beginning because it was too similar to The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and Divergent by Veronica Roth. Then, I found it to be reminiscent of a season of The Bachelor (not quite, but a PG version at least.) And then, we had a twist of events forming a love triangle and finally a cliffhanger. (Which I knew and was my reason for not reading the series until it was completed.) .

I also have a few issues that the book was about a male-dominated society, and young women were practically auctioned, like a dark Cinderella with a twist. But I can let that go; it’s a fairy tale in a dystopian society things are supposed to be dire.

Other Books in the Series:

The Elite (The selection Book 2)The One (The selection Book 3)The Heir (The selection Book 4)The Crown (The Selection)
