Redemption River by Lindsay Cross
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The premise made me want to read it because I’m a sucker for military romantic suspense books. This is a great, fast pace romantic suspense.
I liked the Hunter James’ sense of duty, conscience, and loyalty. He is part of an elite Task Force with very special skills. He oozes masculinity and finds himself on a mission to hell he would do anything to avoid. He returns to his hometown of Mercy where he left years earlier. The love of his life Evangeline broke his heart and now he needs to track her down to find out if the Intel on her is really true.
Evie broke his heart when he saw her in the arms of another man. This was why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Their whole break up was based on what he thought he saw. I guess at that time he was just too immature to man up and confront Evie, but that needed to be expanded upon. I found the heroine to be a fighter, even when the odds were stacked against her. She did what she thought she had to do in order to protect those she cared about. She didn’t want to be used and thrown away and that only further launched her into danger.
